Fit fixes it. Buckles don't.

A boot done up tight enough to stop your foot moving is cutting off your circulation. That's why feet go cold, and why we fit before we sell.

What a fit involves

Four steps. About an hour.

  1. 1

    Measured

Both feet, length and width. Most people have one longer than the other — and it matters.

  2. 2

    Shell checked

Liner out, bare foot in the shell. The gap behind your heel tells us more than any size chart.

  3. 3

    Adjusted

Liner heat-moulded; the shell punched or ground wherever it presses. The boot fits you, not the other way round.

  4. 4

    Recorded

We note what we did, so when you come back in three seasons we're not starting again.

Common problems

Where does it hurt?

Why it happens

Almost always fit, not warmth. A boot buckled tight to stop your foot sliding is cutting off the blood.

What we do

Fit the boot so it holds without crushing — a footbed, the right shell, the right last. A better-fitting boot is a warmer boot.

Custom footbeds

The biggest difference, moulded while you wait.

A stock insole supports nobody in particular. A moulded footbed holds your arch where it belongs, so your foot stops spreading and the pressure comes off the sides.

Good questions

Do I need an appointment for boot fitting?

No — there's no booking at all. A fitter is always here during opening hours, so come in whenever suits you. If it's a busy Saturday, you might wait a few minutes with a coffee.

How long does a boot fitting take?

About an hour for a proper fit, longer if we're moulding a footbed or making shell adjustments. There's no rush — we'd rather get it right than get it quick.

My feet always go cold in ski boots. Can you help?

Usually, yes. Cold feet are far more often a fit problem than a warmth problem — a boot done up too tight to stop the foot sliding cuts off the circulation. A better-fitting boot is a warmer boot.

Just come in.

Whenever we're open. Bring the socks you ski in, your old boots if you have them, and allow about an hour.
