About the Helly Hansen Panoramic Insulated Jacket Men's 66161

A straightforward all-day resort jacket that handles spring slush and early-season powder without fussing. The combination of seam-sealed HELLY TECH® Performance shell and 80g PrimaLoft Black insulation sits you comfortably from cold mornings through variable conditions, whilst underarm vents stop you overheating on the lift or during active runs.

Why we rate it

It works. The shell keeps water out and the insulation keeps you warm across a wide range of mountain weather. Underarm ventilation zips mean you can dump heat when you're working hard without removing layers. The helmet-compatible hood sits properly over a ski helmet and doesn't flap about, and the powder skirt stops snow pushing up under your jacket when you're in rougher terrain. Pockets are sensible (hand pockets, chest pocket, goggle wipe, ski pass pocket, inside stash) and the adjustable hood drawcord and hem cinch mean the fit tightens down when wind picks up. Nothing complicated, nothing gimmicky.

PrimaLoft Black is proven insulation that compresses small and breathes reasonably well, so you can layer it thinner than older synthetic fills. At 80g this is moderate warmth—perfect for most British resort days and spring snow.

Who it's for

Intermediate skiers taking full days at the resort who want a reliable jacket without spending peak money. The regular fit suits most builds, and the waterproofing and insulation balance suits anyone comfortable on blue runs and variable terrain. Works equally well for snowboarders.

Key features

  • HELLY TECH® Performance shell — fully seam-sealed 2-layer construction, waterproof and breathable, with DWR treatment to shed wet snow
  • PrimaLoft Black Eco 80g insulation — synthetic down alternative that keeps warmth even when damp, packs small
  • Helmet-compatible hood — adjustable drawcord, fixed positioning, sits over a ski helmet without bunching
  • Underarm ventilation — zip-access vents to dump heat during active skiing without removing the jacket
  • Powder skirt — adjustable hem seal stops snow ingress in deeper terrain
  • RECCO® reflector — avalanche rescue aid, passive detection layer integrated into shell
  • Practical pockets — hand pockets with zips, secure chest pocket, goggle-wipe pocket, ski pass pocket, inside stash pocket
  • Adjustable fit — drawcord hood, ribbed inside cuffs, adjustable hem drawcord

Fit and feel

Regular fit cuts a straight line through the body and sits cleanly over mid-layers. The collar has soft fleece inside for comfort against the neck. Elastic inside the cuffs keeps them from riding up under gloves, and the adjustable drawcord on the hem cinches the whole jacket to your waist so wind doesn't whistle up. Sleeves are long enough for glove cuffs to sit properly without pinching.
