Nikwax Tech Wash

Tech Wash is the go-to cleaner for keeping your waterproof technical gear performing at its best. It removes dirt, oils and detergent residues that mask the fabric's Durable Water Repellency (DWR) and reduce breathability—the key things that make expensive kit worth wearing.

Why we rate it

Nikwax has been making sustainable aftercare for the outdoor industry since 1977. This cleaner works in both machine and hand wash, and with regular use you can clean your gear five or six times before needing to reproof. It's safe for Gore-Tex and other breathable waterproof fabrics, and it actually revitalises the water repellency as it cleans—so your jacket beads water again instead of darkening and soaking through.

The formula is water-based, PFAS-free and aerosol-free. The bottle is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic.

Who it's for

Anyone with waterproof skiwear, jackets, trousers, gloves or sleeping bags that have picked up dirt or lost their water-shedding properties through repeated washing with conventional detergent.
