This is Salomon's completely redesigned S/Pro Alpha for 2026/27, built for hard-charging skiers who want maximum control and responsive power delivery. The new generation introduces ExoDrive construction—a third cuff overlap that wraps your foot tighter—and Powerlink, a single metallic link from cuff to shell that reinforces the system and handles heel lock with precision. The 120 flex is stiff and progressive, rewarding active technique with excellent energy transfer through the turn.
The BOA Fit System sits high on the upper cuff, letting you dial in micro-adjustments across your whole forefoot without fiddling with separate buckles. Two 3D aluminum buckles lock down the forefoot independently, and an Energyzer velcro strap (with a clever elastic core for rebound) fine-tunes the mid-foot. The 3D Instep Shell is thinner plastic with smart buckle placement that reduces pressure on top of the foot, so your shin stays comfortable even in a firm boot. Custom Shell HD is heat-moldable in 10 minutes if you need it stretched to roughly 104 mm across the forefoot.
The S/Pro CF Expert liner is pre-shaped and removable, with a Custom Tongue 2.0 that's actually adjustable—peel back foam to gain or lose 8 mm where you need it. It's a thinking skier's boot, not a plug-and-play one. The Power Spine metal reinforcement in the cuff delivers the snappy rebound you expect from a performance boot, and the 6 mm back spoiler in the box lets you add forward lean if you want even more engagement.
Advanced and expert on-piste and all-mountain skiers with narrow to standard-width feet. This is not a forgiving boot—it demands good technique and an active stance. The 98 mm last is tight; if your feet are wider than standard, or if you want a more passive, cushioned ride, keep looking. Best suited to groomers and variable snow where you can work the boot's responsiveness. The low instep volume means medium-depth calf shape; if you have high-volume calves, you may struggle.
Narrow 98 mm last at Mondopoint 26.5; can stretch to roughly 104 mm through heat-moulding. Low instep volume and snug cuff wrap suit slim to normal-width feet with medium calf depth. Firm flex demands active skiing technique. Responsive, direct feel underfoot—very little compliance or forgiveness. The cuff sits high and wraps progressively, so you feel every edge and load transfer.
From the fitting room: Heat-mould before your first day out if you're buying at the tighter end of your size range, or if your forefoot feels squeezed. The Custom Tongue foam is your friend—peel it back a couple of millimetres from the top if your shin pressure builds after an hour.
