Skee-Tex boot sizes

Our boots are sized honestly: the size shown is what the boot actually fits, not the number moulded into the sole.

  • The number pressed into the sole is the size of the mould, not the finished boot with its liner in.
  • Between sizes, go up — the liner needs air around your foot to do its job, and a squeezed boot is a cold boot.
  • When the liner eventually tires, replace it rather than the boot, and the full rating comes back.

About the Skee-Tex Original Fishing Boots Small

These are genuine cold-water fishing boots built to keep your feet warm and dry in the hardest conditions. Skee-Tex has been making them at Battlesbridge since 1952, and the design hasn't changed because it works: a neoprene upper with a thermal liner, a high collar to stop water getting in, and a chunky rubber sole with deep chevron lugs that grip slippery rocks and ice.

Why we rate it

The neoprene construction is tough and stays supple in cold; it won't crack or stiffen the way rubber can. The thermal liner provides genuine insulation—this isn't a fashion figure; Skee-Tex guarantees these boots to −50 °C, and they're used by professional fishermen, farmers and cold-store workers who can't afford a boot that fails. The sole tread is serious: the deep pattern bites into wet surfaces and won't slip on slimy rock or ice. The fit is roomy, intentionally so, because the thermal liner takes up space and you need room for thick socks.

Who it's for

Anyone who fishes, works outdoors, or needs a wader boot that will perform in freezing conditions. These suit roving and wading in cold water, standing around in ice, and working on slippery ground. Not for narrow feet; the build is generously cut to accommodate the liner and thermal socks.

Key features

  • Neoprene upper — flexible and durable in extreme cold, won't crack or harden
  • Thermal liner — insulation built in to guarantee warmth to −50 °C
  • Waterproof throughout — sealed construction for fishing and wading
  • Deep-lugged rubber sole — chunky chevron tread grips wet rock, ice and mud
  • High collar — keeps water out when wading or working in snow
  • Roomy fit — designed to work with thick thermal socks and thermal liners
From the shop floor: These have been our own boots for seventy years. Fishermen come back because they work. Don't size down hoping they'll fit tighter—the liner needs room.
